Obituaries

Arlene Hesterhagen, 87, of Livingston, died on August 3. She was born on August 7, 1937 in Orange, to her parents, Carmen and Mary Canouch. Her two sisters, Anastasia Simone and Gertrude Ennis, preceded her in death.

Eugene Colicchio, 95, of Livingston, died on Saturday, August 10. Born in Glen Ridge to the late Anna Cardinal and Antonio Colicchio, he resided in Livingston for the past 62 years.

Fradelle Herbst, 88, of Livingston, died on Wednesday, July 31. She was the wife of Milton for 66 years; mother of Clifford Herbst, Leslie Gersho (Marvin), and Alan Herbst (Adina); and grandmother to two.

Rhoda Lois Schwartz Rosenberg, 90, of Livingston, died on July 30. She was born on August 4, 1933, to Aaron and Anne Schwartz in Newark.

Kathryn Licata, 86, of Livingston, died on July 23. Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 17, 1938, she was the daughter of Anthony and Adele (Abbaleo) Russo and was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel and Frank. She married Joseph Licata in 1959 and they were together for 61 years before his death in November of 2020.

Born Rose Marie Scudese in Jersey City on March 14, 1929, Rose entered into eternal life on July 29, 2024. Rose was the oldest of three daughters born to the late Mary (Galligano) and Frank Scudese.

Ralph L. Malanga, Jr., 94, of Toms River, died on Monday, July 15. Born in Newark, he lived in Livingston before settling in Toms River 23 years ago.

Vincent Anthony Albanese, of East Orange, died on July 12, at the age of 92.

Ann DeGregorio (née Alfieri), a 50 year resident of Livingston, died at the age of 98 on Sunday July 21.

Alan “Wish” Wishengrad, of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 after a brief illness. Wish was 85 years old. Born in Newark, New Jersey on September 15, 1938, he was the son of Rae and Arthur Wishengrad.

David Gill, 69, of Livingston, died on July 14. He is survived by his two sons, James and Thomas; a daughterin-law; and a granddaughter.

Livingston resident Efstratios “Steve” Karchounes, died on July 16.
