STREET IMPROVEMENT:

The Board of Education held its first meeting of the school year on Tuesday night at Heritage Middle School to discuss new developments within the school system to the public. The Board also passed two new board bylaws which took effect immediately.

The Livingston Township Council passed ordinances, including one amending the town’s code focused on government speech; introduced others, including an ordinance that would adopt a new overlay district to pave the way for a housing complex; and passed several resolutions during its Thursday, September 7, meeting.

Joe Fiordaliso, former Livingston mayor who had been most recently serving as president of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, died suddenly last week at 78. Several in the community spoke in remembrance of Fiordaliso following his passing.

The annual September 11th Ceremony of Remembrance will be held on Monday, September 11. The ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Oval, in the September 11th Living Memorial Garden, and will be held, rain or shine.

The Livingston Planning Board, at its September 5 meeting, delayed a vote over 39 W. Northfield Associates, LLC’s application to construct a medical office building at that address. The property is the former site of the New York Sports Club.

Several lawn signs for Livingston Public Schools Board of Education candidate Fang Gong were stolen late on Friday night, September 1, according to several reports taken by Livingston Police officers.

150 Project Healthy Bones peer leaders across the state met at the Livingston Senior/Community Center on Thursday, August 24, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the program and to honor its leaders for their dedication and service.
