Council Passes Brightview Ordinance; Approves Contract for New DPW Facility

During its Monday, May 13, regular meeting, the Livingston Township Council passed three ordinances, including one related to the Brightview project to be built next to Town Hall. The Council also approved several resolutions, including one related to the long-planned new Department of Public Works facility.

Varsity Baseball Team Defeats Caldwell; Will Begin Run at State Title Next Week

With its 5-2 victory over Caldwell this past Monday, the 2024 Livingston Lancer varsity baseball team has clinched, at the very least, a share of the SEC American Division baseball title. The last two conference baseball titles were won in 2018 and 1993. The Lancers are currently 17-4-1 with one week remaining in the regular season before beginning their run at a state title at the Oval on Thursday, May 23.

Patrick Anthony Antonelli, 76, of Livingston, died on Thursday, May 9, in Morristown. Born in Orange to the late Nunzie and MariaAntonelli, Patrick was a longtime resident of Livingston.

William D. Byrnes

William D. Byrnes, 77, of South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, May 6, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Sarah (“Sally”) M. (DeMartino) Byrnes, with whom he shared nearly 46 years of marriage this coming August. Born in East Orange, he was the son of the late Virginia (Ferguson) and Peter Byrnes. After serving in the US Army, he worked since 1967 as a draftsman for Smith Industries, which later became BAE Systems, New Jersey, retiring in 2010. He attended the United Presbyterian Church, West Orange, NJ. He was a past Exalted Ruler of Livingston Elks Lodge 1855; enjoyed golfing and reading, especially James Patterson and Harlan Coban books.

Joan Rowley passed away peacefully at dawn on April 26, at the age of 90. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Rowley; children, Melinda Abbott, Cynthia Murray, and Lincoln Rowley; their spouses; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
