Douglas Allen Pfister, better referred to as Dougie or Dougie Pfresh by his closest friends and loved ones, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in his Livingston home. His home was very special to him and his family, being built by his great grandfather in 1929.

Maria Fatima Calcado, 63 (née Silva), known to all who loved her as Fatima, passed away Monday, November 6th, 2023 surrounded by her beloved family after a very brief fight with cancer.

The Livingston Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration, a long-standing tradition in town, will be held at Trinity Church, 343 East Cedar Street, on Sunday, November 19, at 5 p.m. The theme this year is “Celebrate Community.”

Former Livingston resident Dale Edell Tessler died on Friday, November 3 at the age of 84 in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

The Livingston High School Theater Department fall play, “Pride and Prejudice,” will beheldnext week. Eveningperformances will be held at 7 p.m. on November 16, 17, and 18. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on November 18.

Fang Gong has won the race for a seat on the Livingston Public Schools Board of Education. Two other Livingston residents running on the ballot, Rosy Bagolie, for General Assembly, and Pat Sebold, for Essex County Commissioner, also each won their respective races. Results and vote counts are as ofpress time Wednesday morning; they are preliminary and do not include all vote-by-mail ballots.

LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM: Employees of the Livingston Department of Public Works started the seasonal leaf collection program on Riker Hill Road near Cliffside Drive on Monday, November 6. Election Day is next Tuesday, November 7, and this year’s ballot features two worthy candidates – Fang Gong and Harsh Raju – vying for one open seat on Livingston’s Board of Education. We thank both of these candidates for their willingness to contribute to our community. As past and current members can attest, being part of the Board of Education necessitates a huge time commitment and is a major responsibility. Board members help to shape our town. It can also be quite the thankless job, at times, so we are grateful to see two residents step up to make a difference in Livingston. Both stay-at-home parents who have children in the district’s elementary schools, we applaud Raju and Gong for their willingness to commit themselves to this position.
