GOLF TEAM DEFEATS MILLBURN

GOLFTEAM DEFEATS MILLBURN: The LHS boys’ golf team defeated Millburn, 153-158, at the Canoe Brook Country Club on Wednesday, May 10. The Lancers shot their lowest score of the season, led by Ridhit Beri’s 36 and Ryan Zales’ 37. Livingston next defeated Montclair Kimberley Academy, 158-213, on Thursday, May 11, at Cedar Hill. Ridhit Beri shot a 36 whileAalok Dhurandhar carded a 39. Above, the Lancers placed second in the NJSIAAState SectionalTournament by shooting a score of 322. Jared Zornitzer Runs 50 Mile Marathon; Now Training for Upcoming 100 Mile Race

Jared Zornitzer, a 2020 graduate of Livingston High School and currently a senior studying mechanical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic University, successfully ran a 50 mile “Ultra Marathon.” The race, which nearly doubles the typical 26.2 mile marathon distance, took place in New Paltz, New York, across rigorous terrain in the Shawangunk Mountains. He completed the grueling race in ten hours and 21 minutes, placing 62nd out of 225 other participants.

A few weeks ago, I left on a scheduled two week vacation to Europe, leaving the Tribune in the trusted hands of my co-workers. This is nothing new – we have a small staff, and so everyone is cross-trained to do various jobs, covering for those who take time off.

Planning Board Approves Newark Academy Site Plan

The Livingston Planning Board, at its Tuesday, May 16 meeting, voted to approve NewarkAcademy’s Preliminary and Final Site Plan application to expand its parking lot at 91 South Orange Avenue. The Board also pushed back its vote for Mount Pleasant Partners, LLC’s application to construct 254 multi-family residential units at 389-405 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue – previously heard on April 18 – to June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

LHS Assistant Principal Resigns; Eight Teachers to Begin Next Year

Members of the Board of Education accepted three retirements and 15 resignations during its Monday, May 15, meeting, including the resignation of Livingston High School assistant principal, Yulee Chuy. The Board appointed Chuy in June of last year. Her final day of employment is scheduled for June 30.
