Anthony Siino

Anthony Siino passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, leaving a hole in the hearts of all who knew him. At just 48 years old, he was taken from us far too soon after a courageous battle with cancer. Anthony showed incredible determination and strength throughout his battle, never giving up and fighting until the very end. His unwavering spirit was a true testament to his character Born on June 3, 1974, Anthony was the youngest of four boys to Frances and the late Joseph Siino. He was raised in Livingston and graduated Livingston High in 1992. He went on to attend Rutgers University, where he earned his bachelor of arts in economics in 1996. As a proud Rutgers alum, he cherished time spent with his family and friends, especially during Rutgers tailgates, where he was master of ceremony and commander of the grill.

This past weekend, May 6 and 7, was National Fallen Firefighters Weekend. Tribute was paid to the 144 firefighters nationwide, who died in the line of duty in 2022 at a ceremony in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Track and Field Team Places Second at Essex County Relays

The Livingston High School boys’ track and field team challenged 38 other teams from Essex County and placed second in the Essex County Relays in their home stadium on Friday, May 5. On the way, the boys performed many of their personal bests of the season and broke three school records.

School District Seeking Volunteers For Long-Range Planning Committee

Livingston Public Schools is accepting applications for volunteers who wish to serve on the district’s Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee. The goal of the committee will be to develop a plan for addressing the modernization, expansion, repair, and maintenance needs of the district’s facilities and, to determine how to most effectively invest in the district’s physical space in order to support the mission, vision, values, and goals contained in the Livingston Public Schools 20222027 Strategic Plan.

The Arts Council of Livingston (ACL) has been soliciting over 100 art submissions from artists in and around town for a community project, “Livingston: The Seat of Creativity.” Photographs of these art pieces will be placed on benches across Livingston Avenue.

Firefighters Extinguish Route 280 Car Fire
Firefighters Extinguish Route 280 Car Fire

Members of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle fire in Livingston on Route 280 on Monday, May 8. A car fire was reported in the eastbound lanes between exits 5, for North Livingston Avenue, and exit 6, for Laurel Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found a van in the center median fully involved in flames. The fire was extinguished without incident, however, and no injuries were reported. After the fire was out, the van was towed from the scene.
