TWO CELEBRATE MILESTONE BIRTHDAYS
Two Celebrate Milestone Brithdays

TWO CELEBRATE MILESTONE BIRTHDAYS: Livingston resident Millie Safar, above, just celebrated her 101st birthday. Born in Brooklyn along with her twin sister, Safar has lived in New Jersey for the past ten years, where she loves spending time with her three children – John, Janet, and Deborah – and six grandchildren. She joined the U.S. Army, doing clerical work for two years before attending NYU to study education. Below, Livingston resident Yuan Lui recently celebrated his 100th birthday. Lui was born in Shanghai, China and later transferred to Taiwan and Tokyo, where he and his wife lived for 18 years before being transferred to New York City for work. He and his wife lived in New Jersey as he commuted to the World Trade Center; he survived the parking garage bombing there in 1993. He has two children, Michael and Emily, and a grandaughter, Lauren. In his spare time, he enjoys arts and crafts, listening to music, and visiting with therapy dogs. Shown here, Mayor Al Anthony presents Lui with a citation; they are shown with Lui’s niece, Cindy Lin.
