FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSISTS ON CORNERSTONE

The Livingston Police Department is continuing its increased patrols on various streets this week, according to Chief Gary Marshuetz.

Livingston Police Detectives are investigating a residential burglary that occurred last week in town.

The Livingston Little League 12U All Star team defeated Hoboken 3-2 to win theNew Jersey Section 2 Baseball Championship on Thursday, July 18, at Sgt. William Feskin Memorial Field in Hoboken.

The Livingston Zoning Board of Adjustment approved an application to build a new single-family residence at 5 Briar Cliff Road during its July 23 meeting. The Board also heard three other cases, approving two and adjourning the third to a later date in the fall. A fifth hearing, to build a single-family residence at 35 Sycamore Avenue, was also adjourned ahead of the meeting and rescheduled to August 27.

CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY: A

The Livingston Public Schools (LPS) Board of Education heard a presentation about the district’s scores in the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) during its Tuesday, July 16, meeting.

The Livingston Planning Board approved the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center’s application to provide signage for its cancer treatment center and adjoining structured parking at 94 Old Short Hills Road, during its Tuesday, July 16, meeting. The application was presented by lawyer Douglas Janacek, with Matt Cavalier of Cloud Gehshan Design serving as Janacek’s lone witness.

A Staten Island man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle in town earlier this week.

Livingston Public Schools (LPS) has announced that LPS social studies supervisor (7-12), Charles Raphael, has been selected to serve as Heritage Middle School’s (HMS) new assistant principal. The Board of Education approved this appointment during its July 16 public meeting.
