ROAD WORK ON PENNY ROAD

Two vehicles were stolen last weekend after burglars broke into a home to steal the car keys, Livingston Police said.

Three candidates have filed their petitions with the Essex County clerk’s office to run for a seat on the Livingston Public Schools Board of Education.

The Essex County Summer Players Orchestra (ECSPO), working under the direction of conductor and musical director Nate White, is hosting its 23rd annual summer concert performance this Sunday, August 4, at 3 p.m. at Livingston High School. This free performance is called “Invitation to a Dance.”

Livingston Public Schools (LPS) has announced that Brooke Benavides has been selected to serve as Riker Hill Elementary School’s new principal. The Board of Education approved this appointment during a brief meeting on Thursday morning, July 25. She will replace principal Justin Toomey, who resigned from his position after five years to become the new superintendent of schools in Hanover Township.

The Livingston Little League 12U All Star team defeated Hoboken 3-2 to win theNew Jersey Section 2 Baseball Championship on Thursday, July 18, at Sgt. William Feskin Memorial Field in Hoboken.

Livingston Police Detectives are investigating a residential burglary that occurred last week in town.

The Livingston Zoning Board of Adjustment approved an application to build a new single-family residence at 5 Briar Cliff Road during its July 23 meeting. The Board also heard three other cases, approving two and adjourning the third to a later date in the fall. A fifth hearing, to build a single-family residence at 35 Sycamore Avenue, was also adjourned ahead of the meeting and rescheduled to August 27.
