During an extended conference meeting of the Livingston Township Council on Monday, June 24, members discussed the annual municipal budget, which is expected to be introduced at a meeting next month.

The Livingston Police department responded to reports of three home burglaries and two stolen vehicles in four separate incidents last week.

SENIOR BREAKFAST:

The Livingston Planning Board, during its June 18 conference meeting, approved a memorializing resolution for Brightview Senior Living Development, LLC’s plan to develop senior housing at 321 South Livingston Avenue.

The Livingston Township Council, at its Wednesday, June 12, meeting, enacted a policy to help end traffic fatalities and approved outdoor dining, among other business.

Matthew Block presented his final report as superintendent of schools at the Livingston Public Schools Board of Education’s June 18 meeting. He discussed open campus lunch, a policy that allows for juniors and seniors to leave campus for lunch. This policy was implemented during the COVID pandemic, when social distancing was promoted. Each year since the policy’s inception, the incoming senior class has asked the Board for permission to continue this program.

FIRE DRILL: Members of the Livingston Fire Department drilled on Tuesday, June 11, with a simulated accident in which a construction trailer broke loose from the truck and struck a motor vehicle. The members trained in airbag lifting techniques, cribbing, shoring, stabilization, extrication and patient removal. Jessica Rapp has been selected as the new business administrator and Board secretary for Livingston Public Schools (LPS). The Board of Education approved the appointment during its Tuesday, June 18, meeting. Rapp is expected to begin her new position on August 19.

The Livingston Police Department will hold its first Community Block Party event on Sunday, September 29, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Oval.
