Livingston Police Officers Promoted To Ranks of Captain, Lieutenant

During the Monday, May 13, meeting of the Township Council, Livingston Police Chief Gary Marshuetz announced the promotions of several officers to captain and lieutenant positions. The promotions come in the wake of several recent retirements, including the retirements of both of the department’s captains, John Drumm and Tom Smith. Russell Mueller and Joe D’Andrea were both promoted to captain, while Vince Daly, John Maggiulli, Nick Collins, and Derek Wyatt were promoted to lieutenant. Below are brief biographies of the promoted officers.

Board of Education Honors Governor’s Educator Awardees

History Bowl Team Wins Nationals

The Livingston High School varsity history bowl team won the National History Bowl competition, which was held recently in Arlington, Virginia. Competing against the strongest 165 teams in the country, the Lancers remained undefeated throughout the entire three day tournament. The varsity team included Robert Wang, Akshaya Shanker, Aanya Rathi, Joshua Metters, and Ben Silversten.

Council Passes Brightview Ordinance; Approves Contract for New DPW Facility

During its Monday, May 13, regular meeting, the Livingston Township Council passed three ordinances, including one related to the Brightview project to be built next to Town Hall. The Council also approved several resolutions, including one related to the long-planned new Department of Public Works facility.

Varsity Baseball Team Defeats Caldwell; Will Begin Run at State Title Next Week

With its 5-2 victory over Caldwell this past Monday, the 2024 Livingston Lancer varsity baseball team has clinched, at the very least, a share of the SEC American Division baseball title. The last two conference baseball titles were won in 2018 and 1993. The Lancers are currently 17-4-1 with one week remaining in the regular season before beginning their run at a state title at the Oval on Thursday, May 23.

Patrick Anthony Antonelli, 76, of Livingston, died on Thursday, May 9, in Morristown. Born in Orange to the late Nunzie and MariaAntonelli, Patrick was a longtime resident of Livingston.
