Alan N. Furst, 73, died on March 10. He leaves his wife, Ruth Ann; daughter, Jill Furst Ahluwalia (Sid); his siblings and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel. He is also survived by his former wife.

This past week, the Livingston Fire Department (LFD) responded to a number of calls, including multiple downed wires, fire alarm transmissions, and a potential gas leak.

VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS CHAMPIONSHIP:

Ellen Wagenberg died on March 5. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Barry Wagenberg. Additional survivors include her son, Lawrence Wagenberg, along with his wife and their sons; her daughter, Melissa Lasher, along with her husband and their children; and her sister.

At its meeting on Monday, March 11, the Livingston Township Council introduced two housing ordinances, and passed and tabled separate ordinances related to structures on privately owned property.

Livingston High School bowler Victoria Cheng has won the Essex County Girl’s Individual Championship for the second consecutive year.

WATER MAIN WORK ON CONGRESSIONAL PARKWAY: Water service transfers from the old water main to the new water main on Madison Court and Congressional Parkway from Madison Court to the baseball field, began on Friday, March 8, and will continue through Friday, March 15, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to limited driveway access during these working hours, residents who need to leave after 7 a.m. are recommended to park on Filmore Avenue or in the Northland Pool Parking lot. Livingston Police officers responded to several calls in the past week, including a residential burglary, a burglary to a vehicle, and shoplifting.

WEARING O’ THE GREEN:

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paula Chapman Du-Brow, 87, formerly of Livingston, on Sunday March 3, in Bridgewater. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Paula is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Sheldon, and her parents, the late Faye and Jackie Chapman. She leaves behind her children, Abbe DuBrow Branch of Clinton, Beth and Jeffrey Berger of Basking Ridge, Carrie and Richard Solomon of Basking Ridge, and Darin and Ellen DuBrow of Livingston; along with 12 grandchildren and a great grandchild, Jack; her brothers, Arthur Chapman of Manalapan, NJ and Stuart Chapman of Hollywood, Florida.

Former Livingston resident Barbara Jane DuMont died on February 16, at the age of 75.

Bette Anne (nee Feldman) Silverman died on February 17 at the age of 87. Born September 27, 1936, in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was married to the late Richard Silverman for 66 years.
